Outcomes of the sabbatical. Frank’s part.

January 3, 2021

The past few weeks, Cristina and I have been shocked to notice that the sabbatical year will be over soon. Super soon. It led us summing up all kinds of things about the last year, including ‘what have been the outcomes of the sabbatical?’ This post is about that. … More Outcomes of the sabbatical. Frank’s part.

The end of the sabbatical melancholy

December 31, 2020

Today, the 31st of December we are finally leaving the Caribbean side of Costa Rica and moving towards Monteverde. As we head north, we leave behind much more than just a place. The end of the year is also the end of our sabbatical.  Behind us are nearly 12 months of pure bliss in this absolutely … More The end of the sabbatical melancholy

There is no Wi-fi in the forest…

December 18, 2020

It is early in the morning. The forest is slowly waking up, the mist slowly dissipating, giving an eerie feeling.  Frank is still sleeping while Matilda is cleaning herself after her breakfast. After doing my back-stretching exercises on the balcony, I sit on the mat to watch and hear the forest come to life.  I … More There is no Wi-fi in the forest…

Hurray! October is over!

November 9, 2020

The other day Frank and I realized that October had been the worst month of the sabbatical. At the end of the month, we were exhausted physically and mentally and utterly glad that the month was over. So much that we decided to celebrate it with a pancake dinner and a glass of wine.  So, … More Hurray! October is over!

You cannot work when it is raining!!

October 24, 2020

Today it was one of our first volunteering days at the nature reserve. After feeding the animals that are about to be released and cleaning their cages, I joined Frank in the highly intellectual task of ….cleaning the leaves on the paths.  Rak, rak, rak.  Rak, rak, rak. Rak, rak, Burrruuuuummmmmm! A thunder.  As it … More You cannot work when it is raining!!
